Though brides traditionally wear bridal gowns in ballgown or A-line silhouettes with sweeping trails still, charming and flirty mermaid style wedding dresses are also gaining huge popularity.
Mermaid gowns are often confused with fit & flare, and trumpet style gowns as they look quite similar. However, there is a little difference between the three silhouettes.
Mermaid bridal gowns are fitted on the body up to the knees or a little below the knees and then flare out dramatically. Trumpet and fit and flare gowns, too, are fitted to the body, but they tend to flare out at different locations.
Trumpet gowns, for instance, flare out around the mid-thigh area (in a less dramatic way than mermaid) whereas fit and flare gowns flare out right below the hip.
Thus, of all the three, the mermaid silhouette is the sexiest as it shows off your shape pretty well by highlighting the feminine curves. Furthermore, mermaid-style bridal outfits are elegant and sophisticated.
